History of British American Insurance Company (Trinidad) Limited

British-American Insurance (B.A.) commenced operations in Trinidad in 1956 with the first agency called "Port of Spain District" and it was situated on Frederick Street.

After the first year, we were already becoming a household name synonymous with insurance protection.

Within the next two years, the company established three other agencies - San Fernando, St. Augustine, and San Juan. Eventually, the San Juan and St. Augustine agencies were merged; and the Arima agency was formed.

The Company was formally incorporated in Trinidad in 1977 and was duly licensed to carry on insurance business under the Insurance Act Chap 84:01 in 1983.

In 1997, British-American was acquired by CL Financial as part of its esteemed family. Thereafter, the Company had Agencies in Port of Spain, San Fernando, San Juan, Chaguanas, Curepe, Arima, Debe, and Tobago, to competently service the financial needs of its customers.

Presently, in addition to our Head Office at 11-13 Fifth Street, Barataria, our Company has four other Customer Service Centres. These Centres are located within CLICO’s office spaces at Tunapuna, Chaguanas, San Fernando and Tobago. We remain committed to providing good service to our customers.
